Labyrinth

Teen girl Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) desperately wants her old life, before her father remarried and had a new baby, Toby. Her only escape from the confines of being Toby’s designated babysitter is acting out scenes from her favorite book, The Labyrinth. One night, her frustration at being forced to care for Toby spills over and she wishes for goblins to take her baby brother. That wish comes true. Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie) whisked Toby to the center of his labyrinth. Sarah has only 13 hours to save Toby before Jareth takes the baby for his own. While encountering obstacles at every corner, she makes friends who help her navigate the maze - and learn about her own inner strength. This film was a natural progression for Muppet master Jim Henson after The Dark Crystal; combined with screenwriter Python Terry Jones’ imagination and Bowie’s songwriting, Labyrinth is a certified Gen X cult classic. — Stephanie Valle
