Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

“If you’re not first your last.” The last words Ricky Bobby’s (Will Ferrell) father spoke to him as a child influenced every decision he made for the rest of his life. When he finally gets the chance to drive for the NASCAR team he works for, he grabs it and unexpectedly becomes the most successful driver on the circuit. When his best friend (John C. Reilly) also joins the team as a driver, it seems that nothing can stop him. But heartbreak and defeat come in the form of Jean Gerard (Sacha Baron Cohen), a French Formula One driver brought in to challenge Ricky in more ways than one. With the help of his long-absent father, Ricky bets it all on himself to come back out on top in this at times racy racing comedy that celebrates winning and skewers toxic masculinity. — Erin Ritter
