Ecotourism & Cultural Heritage Manager
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop ecotourism and cultural heritage tourism strategies that are based on historic preservation and
- Become well versed in El Paso ecotourism and cultural heritage tourism.
- Develop and conduct ongoing public awareness, education and training programs designed to enhance appreciation of the local and regional ecotourism and cultural heritage and other unique assets as well as stimulate visitation to the region, and market the region to residents, visitors, and program partners.
- Assist local and regional attractions with site improvement projects.
- Advise local and regional ecotourism and cultural heritage sites in national marketing trends.
- Assist with the identification of local and regional ecotourism and cultural heritage attractions.
- Help identify new marketing opportunities to promote assets in the ecotourism and cultural heritage area.
- Develop e-newsletter, content for social media posts and blogs regarding ecotourism and cultural heritage locally and regionally.
- Attend local, regional, and national travel events and tradeshows promoting ecotourism and cultural heritage for the El Paso region.
- Work close with Tourism Development Manager to create and promote ecotourism and cultural heritage itineraries to tour operators and travel trade companies.
- Cultivates productive working relationships with ecotourism and cultural heritage partners.
- Assess needs and opportunities for ecotourism and cultural heritage product development.
- Assist with and provide support for local and regional ecotourism and cultural heritage organizations.
- Contribute to site visits regarding influencers, bloggers, etc. that are visiting with the Tourism Development manager as it relates to ecotourism and cultural heritage.
- Assist with special event coordination and execution as determined by Director.
- Compile and submit data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Produce detailed wrap reports at the conclusion of any travel conducted to promote the destination.
- Develop and apply creative approaches to promote tourism for El Paso under deadlines.
- Communicate effectively, both in oral and written form such as when making presentations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with professional membership organizations, local businesses, attractions, and the public at-large to further to goals and mission of Visit El Paso.
- Attend educational related events and conferences as well as webinars as determined by Director.
- Assist with miscellaneous tourism projects as assigned by Director.
- Perform related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both in an oral and written form.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of the hospitality industry with understanding of marketing and social media research.
- Have an appreciation and understanding of community involvement.
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, customers, employees, and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on client and office demands as well as physical activities including but not limited to outdoor tours of parks, trails, and attractions.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Some travel required.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
College education or equivalent combination of education and experience 1-2 years of professional experience in a related field.
